Hobbyhorse Sisters is funny and moving film about teenage girls with growing pains, who discover their own voice and talent through riding and grooming toy horses. The film will be released in 2017.
Playing with hobbyhorses is a traditional children’s play, but today’s teenage girls have brought the scene to a whole new level. They are unofficially organized, they are online and at the same time very much “in real life”, they are serious – and an ever-growing group of thousands of girls in Finland.
Hobbyhorse Sisters is a joyful and adventurous film in the interface between reality and imagination. However, the sad fact is that many of the girls are bullied because of the hobby they love. Luckily many of them have found a way to shut the mouth or their critics. When are girls too old to play – and is it just a play in the first place?
The film is a coproduction between Tuffi Films and Bautafilms in Sweden. The project will be presented to financiers at the The Financing Forum for Kids Content in Malmö, Sweden, in March 2016.
